Collects, analyzes and interprets geologic data and engineering information to develop reserve and coal quality models upon which mine planning is based.
Job Description:
Essential Duties:
- Interpret geologic data and provide reserve and coal quality information and assessments.
- Assist in the preparation of mine plans and permits in compliance with applicable laws.
- Monitor state and federal drilling permit requirements and protection of reserves.
- Supervise contractors during geologic drilling and other related projects.
- Collect and analyze geotechnical data.
- Maintain geologic files, data and samples.
- Complete special technical studies as assigned.
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, state and federal regulations, established company policies and procedures, and employment law regulations.
- Assist with other teams on various mining-related projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Some travel will be required.
- Knowledgeable in sedimentary and coal geology, geochemistry and hydrology.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad (Carlson training preferred).
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Education, Training and Experience:
Education and/or experience in geology or engineering. Preference given to those with or in pursuit of a four-year college degree in a related field.
