Job Description

As a Combat Engineering Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Army National Guard mission. You will design and build bridges, roadways, and secure perimeters, in order to repel the enemy and safeguard your fellow soldiers. Additionally, you will be equipped to detect and neutralize mines, as well as conduct route clearance of obstacles and rivers.

Job Duties

  • Construct fighting positions, bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions
  • Place and detonate explosives
  • Clear routes of obstacles and rivers

Skills You'll Learn

  • Basic demolitions and explosive hazards
  • Constructing wire obstacles and bridges
  • Basic urban operations
  • Operating heavy equipment

Requirements

  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma/GED
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Training: 10 weeks of basic training and 14 weeks of advanced individual training (AIT)
