Position Title: School Nutrition Department Manager

Qualifications: Must have high school education. Must be able to use computer and calculator and do math accurately and efficiently. Must be ServSafe certified or able to become certified. Prior management experience preferred. Prior School Nutrition experience or food production experience preferred.

Job Summary: A person, who, under the general supervision of a food service director and/or school administrator, has the overall supervisory responsibility of a school food service operation. Main responsibilities include the supervision of a staff of employees and the implementation and coordination of food services to ensure high standards of nutrition and nutrition education, food production, and student service.

Job Functions
  1. Responsible for implementing the meal plan which is developed by the SNP Director which meets all requirements established by USDA for the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program.
  2. Directs purchases, or recommends purchases or orders, of all food supplies and equipment according to established specifications and procedures.
  3. Assumes responsibility for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving of food according to established standards.
  4. Assures that sanitation and safety practices in all phases of the school food service operation meet established standards.
  5. Maintains a required system of accountability.
  6. Plans schedules and work assignments; trains, supervises, and evaluates food service staff according to established procedures.
  7. Promotes student and staff satisfaction by merchandising and serving meals in an attractive manner.
  8. Involves students, staff, and community in school food service activities.
  9. Communicates concerns to appropriate supervisor about policies and procedures relating to all food service employees.
  10. Directs preparing and serving of meals for special functions and community activities as needed.
  11. Implements the personal professional growth plan required by the Georgia State School Board.
  12. Manages the program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
