Comply with all policies and procedures, nursing standards of practice and regulatory bodies.QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: •Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with current licensure in the State of New Jersey BSN required.•You must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing and graduate on or before the second employment anniversary date into a nursing position.•BSN or MSN graduates preferred.•(Grandfathered Exemption of Educational Requirement: Hired on or before June 1, 2013 - IMC. Hired on or before August 4, 2015 - IMCW)•Medical Surgical nursing experience preferred.•One-year clinical experience in specialty area required for per diem positions, two years preferred.Certification/Licensure:•Current licensure with New Jersey State Board of Nursing as required by law. •American Heart Association BLS required.•American Heart Association ACLS required within 6 months of hire.•Critical Care Course required within 6 months of hire.•Dysrhythmia course required within 3 months of hire.•National Certification in area of specialty preferred.Physical Requirements: N: Never O: Occasionally (0%) F: Frequently (20%-80%) C: Constantly (>80%) Lifting 0lbs F Standing F Sitting F Lifting 20-50lbs F Climbing O Kneeling O Lifting>50lbs O Crouching O Reaching F Carrying F Hearing C Walking F Pushing F Talking C Vision C Environmental Conditions: Noise F Varied Temperatures O Cleaning Agents O Noxious odors O Patient Exposure C Operative Equipment F Position ResponsibilitiesObtains Required Assessments and Collects Needed Data:•Assesses physical condition, psychosocial status, risk factors, and learning needs.•Accurately completes assessments within specified time frames.•Documents reasons for delayed or incomplete portions of data collection.•Identifies and prioritizes patient's problems/needs.•Identifies and implements safety practices for patients at risk.•Reports abnormal clinical findings or changes in condition to physician.Contributes to the Development of a Multidisciplinary of Care:•Collaborates with other health care providers to establish treatment goals and patient outcomes.•Considers age-appropriate milestones and developmental stages in planning of care.•Providers nursing input regarding patient's strengths, limitations, and learning needs.•Identifies nursing interventions and time frames related to patient outcomes.Implements and Monitors Nursing Interventions:•Uses current computer system to correctly transcribe physician's orders.•Correctly administers medications.•Safely performs and documents nursing procedures according to hospital policy.•Uses clinical knowledge to monitor and document patient's response to treatment.•Delegates, monitors, and evaluates care being delivered by ancillary nursing staff.•Uses decision making skills to notify physician of changes in patient's condition.•Takes appropriate action in emergent situations. To include but not limited to code blue and RRT.•Seeks out available resources when patient care situation is new, uncomfortable, or difficult to manage.•Follows chain of command and lines of communication to resolve patient care issues.Evaluates Effectiveness of Nursing Intervention and Actions:•Reassesses patient's needs related to current clinical status and desired outcomes.•Revises plan of care as goals are achieved or time frames.•Documents care provided, changes in condition, and revisions in clinical plan of care.Provides Timely, Adequate Teaching to Patient and Family:•Works collaboratively with others to develop a multidisciplinary teaching plan.•Identifies barriers to learning, consulting other health team.•Reinforces physician's teaching by explaining plan of care.•Educates patient and significant other to medications, dosage, frequency, and common side-effects.•Progressively implements teaching, providing time for discussion and feedback.•Assesses and documents patient/family's response and level of understanding. Interacts with patient and family in a supportive and positive manner.•Serves as a patient advocate to facilitate communication.Consistently Documents Health Care Assessments, Interventions, And Outcomes:•Documents in a clear, concise, and legible manner.•Documents in an accurate, timely and complete manner.•Documents date, time, signature, and title with each entry.Assists with Orientation and On-The-Job Training of New Staff:•Serves as a mentor and resource for new staff.•Shares nursing knowledge and experience.•Provides support and verbal encouragement.Contributes to the patient experience:•Maintain patient communication board.•Effective patient rounding.•Perform bedside shift report.Encouraged participation in employee engagement activities (unit-based practice, shared governance, etc.).Licenses & CertificationsCert Name State Title Country Required?
