Job Summary

The Cardiac Rehab RN will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating patient educational needs specific to cardiovascular inpatient populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess cardiovascular conditions to provide educational plans in accordance with AACVPR guidelines.
  • Develop individualized educational plans based on patient goals and expectations.
  • Facilitate CABG discharge class in collaboration with other healthcare disciplines.
  • Actively participate in patient education and community-based programs by organizing classes, communicating with speakers and participants, and providing classroom instruction.
  • Display a calm demeanor in emergent patient situations, directing the team in appropriate actions.
  • Understand the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement, seeking to improve job skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • One-year experience on a cardiology-related patient care unit.
  • Critical care experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiac disease, anatomy and physiology, risk stratification, exercise physiology, and diet and nutrition.
  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
