The Network Engineer is a member of the Americas Shared Services Networking Team and will be involved in a variety of projects. The ideal and successful candidate will be competent and experienced with networking principles, design, deployment, and support.

Network Engineer duties and responsibilities

  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
  • Offer best practice advice and recommendations towards overall network architecture and strategy
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the New Haven Datacenter
  • Divisional SME that provides LAN, WAN, WLAN support to Divisional IT Admins
  • Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
  • Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arrange scheduled upgrades
  • Investigate faults in the network
  • Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Report network status to key stakeholders

Required Experience and Qualifications
 

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer systems, or related field
  • At least 3-5 years of proven experience supporting and architecting large scale enterprise IT network solutions for internal and outward facing applications
  • CCNP/CCNA or equivalent certification in similar technology stack preferred
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Ability to design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks within Global standards and practices
  • Proven experience installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN/LAN protocols, and Wireless technologies
  • Experience maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Experience managing vendors and procuring network equipment
  • Exposure and understanding of SD-WAN
  • Strong communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal and consultative skills
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
  • A self-start able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary
