SENIOR PLANNER

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

700 Elmore Rd, Anchorage, AK Under general direction within the Planning Department, Current Planning Division, employee will perform professional level planning work. The position is responsible for reviewing land use entitlement applications and developing staff reports, interacting with the general public, land development professionals and staff from other departments and agencies on responding to planning questions and problems, and for making public presentations to Boards and Commissions and at community meetings and other public forums. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

years of professional urban planning experience, which includes one

(1)

year of urban planning experience with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.

Associates Degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Statistics, or a related discipline

and

years of professional urban planning experience, which includes one

(1)

year of urban planning experience with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.

Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Statistics or a related discipline

and

four

years of professional urban planning experience, which includes one

(1)

year of urban planning experience with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.

Masters Degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Statistics or a related discipline

and

two

(2)

years of professional urban planning experience, which includes one

(1)

year of Urban Planning experience with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.

Valid State of Alaska Drivers License at time of hire.

Preferences:

American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Certification
