Summary:

The Clinic RX Refill / PA Program Specialist isresponsible for coordinating prescription medication refill and pharmaceuticalinventory within the pharmacy services program. Under physician managedmedication refill protocol, this position is responsible to assist withprescription refill requests and for the prior authorization process for thosemedications ordered for patients whose insurance plan requires documentation ofmedical necessity. Clinic RX Refill / PA Program Specialist will also providesupport for the ordering,receiving, distribution of pharmaceutical and vaccine products, and control forassigned inventory.

Rx Refill / PA Program Specialist Responsibilities:
  1. Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity and embrace the principles contained within
  2. Works with the Director of Clinical Services and Education and the Vice President of Operations to implement a physician managed medication refill protocol to facilitate the authorization of medication refills for clinic patients
  3. Responsible for coordinating activities consistent with the effective and efficient completion of drug prior authorization requests relative to assigned clinic departments
  4. Based on PA request, reviews lab orders as needed per protocol
  5. Play a key role in maintaining a high level of patient and practitioner satisfaction by providing responsive action to requests and exceptional customer service
  6. Serves as a liaison between patients, community pharmacies, and practitioners
  7. Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services perform other clinic functions as appropriate
Pharmaceutical Inventory Responsibilities:

1. Maintainacceptable inventory levels of all STAT and high volume pharmaceuticals andvaccines

2. Able toutilize various ordering platforms, while being fiscally responsible

3. Proficient inAlert IIS vaccine transfer protocols

4. Understandingprotocols surrounding cold chain and controlled substance distribution cycles(e.g. DEA form 222 procedures, both clinic and VFC refrigeration policies,adhering to all clinic policies in regards to handling all controlledsubstances, etc.)

5. Beingresponsive to the ordering needs of the clinic

6. Skilled atmaintaining open communications with all departments as to the supply status ofproducts (e.g. backorders, shipping delays, estimated arrival times of orderedproducts, etc.)

7. Able tomaintain the Pharmacy Transfers spreadsheet for billing purposes, and DSCSAprotocols

Education,licensure and experience:
  1. Current unencumbered Medical Assistant Certification, Oregon Certified Pharmacy Technician license preferred, or a minimum of one year of clinical experience

PreferredQualifications:

1. One yearor more experience with coordination of a medical clinic program.

Knowledge and skills :

1. Computer literacy.

2. Ability to work compatibly withphysicians, patients and other staff.

KeyPerformance Indicators

1. Will ensureall medication refills and prior-authorization requests are addressed within 48hours.

2. Will reviewpending prior-authorization bucket weekly.

3. Inventoryrequests will be addressed by the end of the day.
