REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Supervisor of Human Resources & Labor Relations

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Saginaw Public Schools Campus Support are responsible for assisting the campus patrol officers in providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and a safe and secure working environment for staff. Campus Support assist teachers, campus patrol officers and building principals in the management of the hallways, study halls, and the cafeteria.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Knowledge of potential fire hazards, unsafe conditions and other security hazards
  2. Knowledge of school policies
  3. Skilled in de-escalation and take down techniques
  4. Ability to work in a multi-cultural, urban setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents and the school community

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide assistance to campus patrol officers in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment by acting as a visible deterrent
  2. Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at building entrance to maintain an orderly flow
  3. Take appropriate action against violators of school policies
  4. Report potential fire hazards, unsafe conditions and other security hazards to campus patrol officers or building principal
  5. Make appropriate referrals to building principal concerning unacceptable student behavior or unsafe building situations
  6. Patrol buildings, parking lots, and school grounds
  7. Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  1. High school graduate
  2. Must have Highly Qualified Status
  3. College training preferred
  4. Previous security experience in a multi-cultural, urban setting preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. School environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature
  2. Noise level in this work environment may be moderate to loud
  3. Physical Demands -The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the school building and the school grounds. The person in this position frequently interacts with students and must be able to distinguish between what is appropriate and what is inappropriate activity and act accordingly. This employee must be able to engage in the physical management of students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others. This person will be working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, and must be physically able to stand and/or walk. to patrol the buildings and grounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
