Lead Histologist M-F 3a - 1130 Job Summary:
Performs histology procedures and collaborates with supervisor to assist with supervisory duties.
Responsibilities:
- Performs histology procedures and processes including immunohistochemistry according to established protocols.
- Maintains a good working knowledge of the technical and instrumental aspects of the department.
- Collaborates with Supervisor to organize workflow and staffing assignments in the department to ensure work is completed in a reasonable timeframe.
- Ensures staff is adequately trained.
- Maximizes productivity by cross training personnel when needed and provides input to the supervisor.
- Performs quality control, equipment maintenance and instrument calibration as defined.
- Recognizes problems, implements and documents corrective actions and informs supervisor when appropriate.
- Writes, reviews, and updates procedure manuals; maintains the department in conformance with regulatory demands.
- Assumes responsibility for workflow processes and ensuring the continuance of smooth operations of the section in the absence of the supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Baccalaureate Degree in biological/chemical science from an accredited college of university.
- Must have ASCP Certificatiion (HT or HTL)
- Must have 1+ years experience
