Job Description:We are a Skilled Nursing Facility looking for a caring and compassionate RN Wound Nurse. The RN Wound Nurse position is responsible for surveillance, prevention, and control of infections in patients of all ages. Oversees employee health by participating in employee education with the approval of multi-disciplinary infection control committee; administers comprehensive infection control policies and procedures; monitors all environments for potential risks. Reports infection statistics: monthly to Quality Assurance and Assessment (QAA) meetings; quarterly to Surveillance Committee.

Responsibilities:

Manages Infection Control Program (ICP) and activities in conjunction with local, state, federal rules/recommendations/regulations (CDC, OSHA, APIC, Critical Access, etc.) and medical center policy. Assists with the employee health program.

Prepares monthly reports for QAA Committees. Prepares an annual summary of infection control activities and surveillance data within the Long Term Care settings.

Conducts surveillance by reviewing patient charts, diagnostic reports, and laboratory reports and differentiates between community-acquired and nosocomial infections.

Makes rounds for the purpose of case finding, environmental sanitation monitoring, potentially harmful exposures and outbreaks, and supervision of infection control practices.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate. Also necessary to ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective patient care.

Performs exposure prone/invasive procedures.

Provide wound care as ordered by wound physician.

Round with wound physician, upload wound notes as necessary and update orders as necessary.

Assists with employee health screening and immunization programs such as T.B. screening, Hepatitis B and Influenza immunizations.

Acts as a role model for patient and health care team relating to infection control/ employee health education and advocacy.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Registered Nurse in SC with an active, unencumbered license.

Minimum three (3) years clinical experience in a health care setting; long-term care setting preferred.

Must have a current/active CPR certification.

Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.

Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and vendors.

Experience with wound care to include pressure ulcers is a must.
