The professional Registered Dietitian provides for nutritional assessment and monitoring of patients and residents, including their nutritional care, as well as care and proper use of materials and equipment for provision of food service for Orchard Hospital. In conjunction with the Director of Food Services provides consultative oversight of food service operations to ensure consistency and accuracy of meals that meet the nutritional needs of the organization's resident/patient population.

Salary Range: $35.00 - $42.00 DOE

Qualifications:

  • Current California CDR Registration as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor's degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
  • Completed a CADE-accredited supervised practice program.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • 1 year minimum prior experience working in healthcare preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
Job Requirements:
  • Assists Director of Food Services (DFS) with orientation, work assignments and food handling for cooks and preparation staff and conducts in-service programs and meetings together with DFS.
  • Performs nutritional assessments, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluating of patients and residents per hospital policy for acute care and skilled care.
  • In coordination with DFS, prepares and submits policies and procedures for annual review in accordance with accreditation and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficiently uses critical thinking skills and willingness to work with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff - identifying actual and potential risk and demonstrating leadership in emergent or crisis situations.
  • Provides nutritional consultation to staff and counseling to patients or patients' family members or caregivers. Collaborates with medical staff to plan and implement patient care.
  • Supports audit and ensures compliance with county, state, federal standards, survey, licensure, and accreditation readiness - documents outcomes and participates in Organization's Quality Improvement Program.
  • Collaborates with Director of Food Services to support the maintenance of health, safety and sanitation conditions in the department.
  • Maintains any pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify diets to meet nutritional needs.
  • Approves and enforces adherence to standardized recipes, menus, cook's spreadsheets, and the Diet Manual in coordination with the DFS.
  • Demonstrates proficiency navigating through Orchard Hospital Health Information Systems (HIS) including Chart Access, Point Click Care, ELearning, and Orchard Hospital Policies and Procedures- locating policy and procedures.
  • Able to fulfill physical demands of the position and demonstrates competency in skills, knowledge, ability, and equipment as required for the position and area of assignment.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes and attends mandatory and staff meetings at least 75% annually.
