Job Description Summary: Provides pre-hospital and interfacility, patient care as part of the ALERT air ambulance team in collaboration with the flight nurse. Coordinates care with other disciplines, especially other pre-hospital providers. Services neonatal, pediatric, adult, OB high risk and geriatric populations. Works in collaboration with the pilot to provide navigational and radio communication assistance. Qualifications: + Current Montana EMT-P and/or National Registry licensure required. Minimum three (3) years’ paramedic experience required. + State of Montana Critical Care Transport Paramedic endorsed. + Current CPR as required for assigned area(s). + Current certifications preferred or must successfully obtain within one (1) year of hire as applicable to assigned area(s): + PALS certification + NRP certification + PHTLS certification, equivalent, or ATLS audit + AMLS certification + CCEMTP or FP-C preferred. + Must be able to meet the ALERT Medical Director’s approval for the State of Montana Paramedic Critical Care Endorsement within one (1) year of hire. + Must satisfactorily meet and maintain Flight Crew requirements: + All current Flight Crewmembers will continuously meet the stated physical requirements to remain in flight status. + Maximum body weight with flight gear (flight suit, jacket, boots, helmet: approximately 10#): 250 lbs. + It is the responsibility of each crewmember to know the physical requirements and to notify their immediate supervisor if they do not meet these requirements at any time + Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. + Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. + Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties: + Performs comprehensive assessments in collaboration with a flight RN in accordance with Flight policies and procedures and the unit (ED/Flight) specific standards. Performs daily review of aircraft to include thorough check of packs, oxygen, batteries and avalanche equipment. Performs, completes, and documents monthly pack checks. + Chart completion performed in conjunction with involved Flight Nurse per protocol. + Completes required flight specific competencies and educational requirements per department procedure. + Responsible for assisting with loading/unloading patients to and from the assigned aircraft. + Performs radio communications with dispatch, ground crews and ambulance crews and coordinates to secure landing zone. + Exhibits knowledge and competences regarding GPS data entry, satellite telephone, flight hazard awareness, HTAWS system, TCAS system, and the SkyTrac system as applicable to assigned area(s). + Works in collaboration with the Flight RN for all aspects of patient care per department procedure and protocol. + The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position . Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership. Shift: Variable (United States of America) Schedule Details: Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs. Schedule: Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
