Description

Responsible to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary, unit-based, or divisional based team to provide nursing expertise for a defined microsystem. Lead quality care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and patient safety. Collaborate in staff and patient education activities.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with inter-professional leadership for a defined patient population to be the Nursing expert and lead patient care initiatives that are evidenced based, and patient-family centered.

Identify, interpret, and guide the implementation of appropriate policies/procedures, clinical decision tools, data collection tools, national clinical care guidelines, literature, and research to promote standard and evidence-based practice.

Uses LEAN principles to develop and leverage human, environmental, and material resources within a microsystem.
Assess the learning needs of nursing staff and students and design educational programs in the micro, divisional, and global systems.

Implement principles of mass customization and standardization to ensure consistency of care within a microsystem.

Design and lead microsystem teams to reach defined goals.

Accountable for identification, collection, evaluation, and improvement of point-of-care outcomes within the microsystem.

Foster compliance with patient care, organizational standards, and regulatory mandates set by The Joint Commission (TJC), HIPAA, and other agencies.

Identify and interpret findings from published research and assist nurses in understanding implications for clinical practice and incorporate changes in their practice.

Design data collection tools and assist nursing staff in completing pre-existing tools to monitor patient outcomes, efficiency, and effectiveness of care.

Maintains clinical competencies for assigned microsystem and annual unit competencies.

Promote individual staff development to include practice and professional development, to include competency, clinical ladder, advanced degrees, and certification. Serve as a mentor to staff advancing their professional education and development.

May perform other duties as assigned and job specification can be updated at any time.

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelors Degree

Required Certifications and Licensures: Current Virginia or Multi-State Nursing Registration. Hold a current, active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) course completion card.

Effective April 1, 2024, candidates seeking employment in this role at Centra must possess a valid and current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS Provider or AHA BLS Instructor) course completion card. Proof of certification will be mandatory prior to commencing employment. Both AHA and RQI cards are acceptable forms of certification.
