POSITION TITLE: Service Extension Field Representative

LOCATION/DEPT: North & Central Illinois Division / DHQ/Service Extension

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Director of Service Extension

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: Full-Time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Administration and Planning

  • Participate with the Service Extension Director in planning for the development of the program and recommend plans and changes in the program.
  • Ensure ongoing training for Service Extension Unit Volunteers and schedule regional meetings with Service Extension Volunteers and Corps Community Center personnel.

2. Policy and Procedure

  • Ensure that Service Extension Units understand information needed and the critical nature of these requirements.
  • Monitor the adherence to Service Extension Guidelines.

3. Supervision/Management

  • Monitor, on a regular basis, Service Extension Unit expenditures versus their budget allocations.
  • Promote special fund-raising activities in designated Service Extension areas and encourages volunteer involvement.
  • May provide field instruction to social work interns.

4. Other Duties

  • Provide client casework when necessary.
  • Complete other Social Service Department responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide support in responding to disasters in cooperation with the Emergency Disaster Services Department.
  • Recruitment and registration of Wonderland Camp participants.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position reports to the Service Extension Director.
  • This position supervises Service Extension volunteers throughout the Chicagoland area.
  • This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army (including Service Extension volunteers, personnel in churches, social service agencies, townships, villages and local United Ways).
  • In contacts related to position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved.
  • Timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed in bi-monthly supervision meetings.
  • An evaluation of how effectively service is provided within budgetary guidelines.
  • A 30, 60, and 90-day performance review will be conducted.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • An associate degree required. Bachelor's degree is a plus. BSW Preferred.
  • Three years of work and/or educational experience in social work, marketing or account management.
  • Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Director of Service Extension informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do moderate physical work.
  • The work environment includes an office environment with a low noise level.
