Position: Surgical Technologist - First Assist

Department: Operating Room, Mercy South

Shift: 40 hours/week, 6:45am - 5:00pm with call responsibility

Sign on bonus: $10,000

$2500 at 90 days, $2500 at 6 months, $5000 at 12 months

Overview:

Under the supervision of the surgeon, The Surgical Tech First Assist (ST-FA) is a role which provides additional assistance to the surgeon in the Operating Room over and above that normally provided. As defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), surgical assistants provide aid in exposure,hemostasis, closure, and other interoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safer operation withoptimalresults for the patient.In addition, the ST-FA may perform in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and guiding principles.

Qualifications:
  • Required Education: HS Diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure: Surgical Technology experience or Graduate with a Degree in Surgical Technology or completion certification from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
  • Required Experience: Two years in the Operating Room
  • Required Certifications: Certified Surgical First Assistant within 90 days of hire/transfer.
  • Required Other: Maintain BLS certification
  • Preferred Certifications: CST
