Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Senior System Administrator/Engineer for a long term consulting assignment with a global financial services firm in NYC.

Role Summary:

As a Senior System Administrator/Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization. You will have a hands-on role in managing our servers, network infrastructures, and the deployment of virtualization technology and storage solutions. Your expertise will support our organization's data security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, install, and configure internal and customer-facing servers, network devices, and firewalls.

- Proactively manage and maintain server, virtual machine, and storage environments to ensure high availability.

- Implement and oversee robust backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.

- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the long-term efficiency of the network and systems.

- Work with various technologies and architect solutions to meet business needs, including cloud services, server technologies, storage solutions, and virtualization platforms.

- Develop automation scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on tasks.

- Provide expert technical support, problem-solving, and guidance to the IT team and other departments.

- Document system design, configuration, and management procedures, including maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all hardware and software.

- Participate in the planning and execution of technology projects, ensuring they meet business objectives and are delivered on time.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- At least 5 years of experience in a system administration or similar role.

- Strong experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

- In-depth knowledge of network storage solutions, SAN, and NAS, as well as RAID storage architectures.

- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions and practices.

- Proficiency in managing Windows Server operating systems.

- Solid understanding of network infrastructure and protocols.

- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.

- Strong communication and documentation skills, capable of effectively articulating technology solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
