Position SummaryPerforms designated histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to achieve high quality Pathologyslides for reviewby Pathologists.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.2. Performs all other related duties as assigned.3. Performs embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks following section protocol as to biopsies, routine, etc.4. Evaluates routine stain daily (H&E), reviews for inconsistencies and confirms and/or corrects before releasing slides.5. Performs Special Stains and evaluates for inconsistencies and confirms and/or correct before releasing slides, Checkspositive controls and documents on run log(s).6. Performs Immunohistochemistries, and evaluates for inconsistencies and confirms and/or correct before releasing slides,Checks positive and negative controls and documents on run log(s).Education & Experience RequirementsNYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License or NYS PA License required.•Degree in Medical Technology or related science preferred with one year of relevant hospital experience in Histology.•ASCP preferredCore CompetenciesFlexibilityOrganizedAdaptabilityAttention to DetailStress TolerancePhysical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment•May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposedto are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site(Employee Tools/SDS Access).
