Summary of Position:Under the supervision of the department Supervisor, assumes responsibility for performance of routine, standardized biological and/or bio chemical test procedures on blood, urine, tissue, body fluids and other specimen sources that assists clinicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. Demonstrates individual judgment with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of instrumentation and the principles of test procedures. Assumes responsibility for actively contributing to the laboratorys productivity and cost effectiveness, including but not limited to employee orientation and implementation of new tests, writing procedures and helping with special projects. Participates in the laboratory quality assurance and compliance program. Assumes charge as needed. Required Skills, Abilities and Attributes: Effective written and oral communication skills, computer skills and organizational skills required. Experience instandard microscopes, centrifuges, water baths, incubators, automated and semi-automated instruments and Laboratory Information System. Minimum Qualifications: Licensed by NYS Department of Education or eligible. Currently registered with NYSED. Employees must obtain NYS licensure within 12 months of hire.Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required.Licensed by NYS Department of Education as CLS or NYSCLS Limited Permit. If Limited Permit must obtain NYS CLS Licensure within 12 months of start.Candidates must be NYS DOH Supervisor Qualified for off site locations. Salary Range: $31 - $47.90 Pay Grade: CL1 Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
