Pacemaker Tech Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Purpose: Provides physician with information regarding patient pacemaker status by means of telephone follow-ups and EKG tracings done via telephone. Responsibilities: Provides detailed instructions to patients regarding procedures, obtains signed consent as needed. Schedules appointments for pacemaker reprogramming and follow-ups on patients with implanted defibrillators per insurance guidelines. Calls pacemaker patients at their appointed times and performs EKG tracings per the standard operating procedure. Compiles a billing list and forwards to data entry. Contacts patients who have missed appointments and reschedule. Assists manufacture representative with pacemaker reprogramming and implanted defibrillator follow-ups, coordinates with manufacturer representatives as needed. Prints out each patient's report and forwards to physician for review and signature, documents results in the patient's chart. Completes reports and forms for device manufactures as needed. Registers all new pacemaker patients into computer, gives patient the necessary equipment for telephone follow-ups, schedules appointments for same and make up a chart. Schedules all procedures with physicians as ordered, including precertification of procedure if required. Qualifications: LPN with valid licensure or Cardiovascular Technician or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, minimum of one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret procedure manuals, manufacture information and professional manuals to keep current on pacemaker, defibrillator and artificial valve technology. Ability to document information in charts and prepare billing. Must be able to effectively present information to physicians and patients in one-on-one situation. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate required and maintained.
