This individual performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physicians. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining research/medical records and entering data into electronic records. Clinical duties include taking vital signs, EKG, interviewing patients to obtain medical histories and medication history and recording information in medical records, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood and administering medications, as directed by physicians. Collect blood, skin or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing. Explain treatment medication, procedures and physicians' instructions to patients. Inventory, order and maintain medical, lab and office supplies and equipment.QualificationsQualifications and Experience:Qualification and skillsProficient in MS Word, Excel, Quicken, and WordPerfect.Ability to independently compose correspondence, design spreadsheets and use databases. Good communication skills both oral and written. Ability to use proper English grammar and spelling. Ability to summarize information.Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and function under time constraints. Preferred: phlebotomy certificate and/or experienceFULL time position2 year commitmentAny research experience or medical assistant background would be an excellent candidateEquipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted medical office environment. Physical Requirements: Must possess the manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals. Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.
