The Infection Prevention Coordinator is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is directly responsible for infection prevention and control program activities including, reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI), staff and patient education, oversight of hospital practices as it relates to infection prevention and ongoing surveillance to ensure rigorous infection control standards meet CDC, DNV, OSHA, DHEC and other organized#agency#s#recommendations and requirements. In addition to the Infection#Prevention team, the coordinator works with medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively and supports the mission, vision, values, and guiding behaviors of the organization.### # Qualifications: Bachelor#s degree#in Nursing, Public Health, or Medical Laboratory Sciences. A Master#s degree is preferred.#A Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) is also required. Specialized knowledge:#Must have a working knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious disease, knowledge of infectious disease laws and regulations associated with infection control, and knowledge of public health/communicable disease policies and procedures, e.g., CDC, DHEC, DNV, and OSHA.#Must demonstrate#leadership principles and be self-directed as well as excellent problem-solving skills.# Skills: Must be skilled in identifying problems and recommending solutions, preparing and maintaining records and written reports, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital and medical staff, and the public. Must also be proficient in communicating clearly and effectively with multiple constituents, negotiating complex systems to effect positive change, and computer usage (especially database and spreadsheet analysis).# Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment is required. Abilities: Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures, analyze situations, apply#critical thinking#skills, and work well with interdisciplinary teams required.
