JOB DESCRIPTION PATROL OFFICER * [RESPONSIBILITIES:[All officers of the Department will, at all times, within the jurisdictional limits, endeavor to prevent crime, preserve the peace, protect life and property, detect and arrest violators of the law, and enforce the laws of the United States, the State of Wyoming, and all local ordinances, in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and orders of the jurisdiction and the Department. [REQUIREMENTS: [Patrol Officers must obtain knowledge in all areas of laws, regulations, police methods, procedures and techniques. Must be able to conduct critical thinking and have problem solving skills. Communication and interpersonal skills are key in police related incidents. All patrol officers are required to obtain certification (POST) through the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy with in two (2) years of hire and successfully complete the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.Preference for currently POST ceritfied individual, but not required.[Must successfully maintain a Peace Officer Standards and Training certification. *[REQUIRED SKILLS: [Patrol Officers are frequently in the field and are considered first responders. They are not part of the administration. [1. Meets the expectations of the Chief of Police and Patrol Sergeant to include appearance, timely report submissions, adheres to policy, etc. [2. Follows instructions and activities assigned by the Patrol Sergeant. [3. Completes reports accurately. [4. Participates in problem solving and program development. [5. Responds to emergent and non-emergent calls for service in a prompt and professional manner [6. Proactively engages in the community daily. [7. Makes physical arrests, issues citations and prepares affidavits for criminal complaints. [8. Any additional duty assignments as requested by the Chief of Police or Patrol Sergeant.
