Jupiter Medical Center is the only hospital in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties to receive a 4-star quality and safety rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).EducationHigh school Graduate or EquivalentTechnical Program completed in HistologyExperience / QualificationsState of Florida Technician/Technologist License in Histology.Histology National Certification preferred, ASCP.Cognizant ability to correlate physician requests with specimen preparation and processing.Precise hand to eye coordination and finger dexterity is necessary to perform procedures, obtain specimens and use electronic/computerized equipment.Position SummaryThis position will work in collaboration with department leadership to support the needs of the department.Accessions specimens, embeds tissue, cuts blocks and makes slides.Stains slides using routine special and immunohistochemical staining methods.Maintains equipment.Follows and documents quality control procedures.Assists in orientation of new employees.Remains current in technical knowledge and instrumentation.Assists pathologists in various tasks.Performs frozen sections.May be required to cross train in other duties in the laboratory.Performs other duties as assigned.
