DV /SA Case Manager

serves culturally appropriate assistance to Indigenous women, men, and the 2SLGBTQ+ community facing various forms of domestic violence, abuse, and harassment. This position will take on barriers specific to the Indigenous community. The ideal candidate is reliable and motivated, who is able to work independently, and has an effective system for staying organized. This position should serve as an advocate and/or activist against violence among Indigenous members with a high level of empathy, compassion and confidentiality. This position has a social justice component that will allow for critical thinking around how the external systems impact the work that CSC is doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Position requires on-site work. Duties/Responsibilities: Preliminary screening with new/current members of the community to assess needs in a highly confident manner (housing, employment, education, domestic violence advocacy, mental & spiritual health, substance abuse treatment, health, parenting referrals, etc.). Assisting CSC with the creation, maintenance and development of the DV program. Some outreach in the Seattle area; meeting community members at their locations. Work with CSC’s housing department to achieve housing goals from temporary to permanent. Creating trauma-informed care with safety planning, financial assistance or housing assistance . Works to build collaborative relationships between victim service providers, law enforcement, courts, prosecutors and other departments, to increase safety and provide victims with high quality, holistic services. Some welfare visitation checks to community members at their place of residence, depending on needs (reimbursement of mileage by CSC if using a personal vehicle). Ability to self-regulate working hours, as they may vary depending on caseloads and situations. Overtime is generally not encouraged but may sometimes be necessary. Assistance with arranging transport for members to off-site appointments, court dates, school, etc. on an as-needed basis. Advocating on behalf of victims obtaining needed services or referrals to appropriate resources. Assisted referrals for medical treatment. Works with other CSC staff to deliver support services. Assist with in-reach/outreach to institutions and agencies; screening and determining and enrolling and orienting member for services. Create or assist with field trips in promotion of rapport and healing with community members. Create and report monthly data/statistics to manager for board reports. Participate in staff/team meetings. Proven Experience: Highly organized, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive and detail oriented with the ability to multitask. Proficient in MS Office. Knowledge of current policies, laws and rights in WA state, King County and surrounding tribal reservations around domestic violence victims. Knowledge of criminal justice system, courts and family court system. Must possess great oral and written skills. High degree of discretion and excellent judgment. Must have a strong understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma among Indigenous communities . Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under stressful conditions. 3 years case management experience preferred. Ability and willingness to drive his/her own vehicle and CSC vehicles as necessary to meet with and/or accompany members to various locations throughout Seattle and King County. Other Factors: Attends and participates in CSC training, staff meetings, and monthly CSC partners meeting. Organized and creative. Leadership and teambuilding skills are a must. Must possess a valid WA state driver’s license & 3-year clean driving record. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling/social work, or related field. Minimum 2 years case management experience; preferably in a non-profit social service setting. Excellent typing, verbal, written and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience working with homeless and/or low-income population. Experience working with Native American population and/or strong awareness of Native Culture. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: work at a stationary work space for long periods of time, with mobility to move throughout the office; use a PC, constantly reaching with hands and fingers and keyboarding extensively; work with team as frequent communication is required, including use of the telephone; be able to read and write documents in hard and electronic copy, including those requiring great attention to detail; have the physical strength and agility to handle routine office tasks and machinery. Occasional travel may be required for certain employees depending on location. This position is typically in an office environment with desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. The noise level is moderate. Frequent interruptions are common, while under deadlines and time constraints. Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma. Employees are encouraged to seek external support and maintain self-care when working indirectly or directly with clients. Mental health care referrals for employees are available.
