Job Overview: The Oncology Clinical Genetics Nurse Navigator (NN)/Genetic Counselor (GC) functions to provide access to quality care for patients and families at risk for cancer. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, this provider assists patients along the continuum of care from exploration of familial risk, diagnosis of genetic risk, high-risk physical findings, prevention strategies, diagnosis and through treatment and survivorship. The NN/GC meets with patients and family members for individual cancer risk assessment sessions; including detailed discussion of basic genetics, risk for cancer development based on family/personal history, discussion of genetic testing procedures and possible test results, and medical management implications of genetic test results. Qualifications

Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics or closely related field. Two to three years of work related experience required. Genetic Counselor credentialing license required (must meet Commission on Cancer (CoC) standard). Must have analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Must possess strong customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficient in EMR (EPIC/Cerner) and Microsoft products.
