Overview:

The overnight Registered Nurses work while awake, on site in Hunter NY. The nurses work in a complete and mutually supportive team with the Cabin Counselors, Program Staff, Kitchen Staff, and Administration, and campers to ensure that the campers (and staff) are safe and healthy during their stay at Camp Loyaltown. $1600 Weekly Pay

Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Primary responsibilities are to remain awake and be able to respond to any emergency situations that may occur during the night and contacting the Nurse Manager, residences and /or guardians for any campers sent to the ER overnight
  • Administer any off time medications that are given in the health center.
  • Oversee the clinic portion of the Health Center between 6am and 8am including triaging, treating and documenting any health concerns of campers and staff.
  • Attending to the healthcare needs of any campers or staff who are staying or being monitored in the Health Center.
  • Other responsibilities are to review and spot check nursing paperwork and documentation to ensure completion and quality assurance; including MARs, nurses notes, camper applications and counselor paperwork. Also, helping with packing and distribution of medications that will be departing with campers on transfer days and surplus medication counts.

  • Follow prescribers orders for medication and or treatments as well as individualized guidelines.
  • Participate in daily activity of setting up the clinic portion of the Health Center for the next morning.
  • Hand off in-patient report to the next days clinic nurse and the Nurse Manager of the Health Center
  • Hand off overnight report of any emergency responses and any other pertinent health concerns encountered overnight to the Nurse Manger
  • Participate in orientation education activities
  • Obtain and review, maintain Health Records for staff
  • Assist staff with completion of insurance paperwork

  • Adheres to all regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency and program training requirements
  • Reports to the Justice Center as a mandated reporter if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. Additionally, must follow all agency incident policy and procedures
  • Reports and documents any events/activities that may hinder the health, safety and well- being of the people that attend camp (ie., allegations of abuse, injuries, broken equipment, etc.).

Qualifications:
  • New York State Certification as Registered Nurse.
  • Yearly CPR/AED Certification.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills and an excellent team player with a positive attitude.
