POSITION TITLE: I.T. Specialist

REPORTS TO: Technology Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Two years college training and/or equivalent technical training, or equivalent experience working with information technology.

• Working knowledge of computers and computer systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems.

• Ability to work effectively with students and staff.

• Must have good organization and communication skills.

• Must be willing to participate in required training.

• Demonstrates mental/physical ability and stamina to perform job responsibilities.

• Demonstrates knowledge of MS office computer applications (Word, Access, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint).

• Demonstrates knowledge of Google Workspace, including their productivity suite and Chrome browser.

• Demonstrates knowledge of handheld/mobile devices, including both troubleshooting and setup.

Preferred

• Experience in a similar position.

• Knowledge of wired network operations and productivity software.

• Knowledge of wireless networks, including deployment and management.

• Knowledge of web page construction and maintenance.

• Associates degree in computer technology or related field, and/or 1-2 years of professional experience.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Complete tasks assigned by the district Technology Director, related to district workstations, classroom computer labs, as well as maintenance of the network infrastructure.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the implementation of district technology as directed by Technology Director

• Work with all students and staff in the use of district computers, related equipment and applications.

• Assists in training district personnel in the use of district computer equipment and applications.

• Maintains an attractive, orderly work environment.

• Maintains district computers using technical knowledge and appropriate troubleshooting techniques.

• Prepares for software deployments by installing software and/or preparing system for use.

• Maintains a current knowledge of personal computer operating systems, equipment utilization and application software releases/upgrades.

• Responds to Help Desk job ticket requests. Assists and trains users on troubleshooting procedures.

• Promotes manufacturer and district policy on software copyright laws, district's Acceptable Use Policy, and ethical use procedures.

• Assist Technology Director in maintaining a district computer hardware inventory as needed.

• Attends periodic planning and program evaluation meetings, as well as regular Technology Department meetings.

• Participates in technical training and staff development activities.

• Other job related duties as assigned by the Technology Director.

WORK SCHEDULE:

As directed by the Technology Director. Eight hours per day, five days per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

This position may involve pushing, pulling, standing and occasionally lifting heavy items.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work completed as a part of this position will occur in a school environment with travel between school buildings.
