Summary This position is located in the Health Resources and Services Administration, Office of Federal Assistance Management, Office of the Associate Administrator, Special Activities Team. **Applicants please note: Additional selections may be made across the Department of Health and Human Services through this vacancy announcement.**DutiesAs an Environment Protection Specialist in the Office of Federal Assistance Management, you will focus on environmental advisory services for multiple ongoing projects related to health care delivery services for construction renovation and disaster recovery needs. Your major duties and responsibilities include: Utilizing knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and related laws and rules to ensure HRSA program compliance for the Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending (CPF/CDS) program. Determining the overall impact of disaster recovery, construction, and renovation by applying knowledge of Federal environmental protection laws and regulations. Determining the application of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), reviewing grant applications and submissions for compliance with NEPA and other environmental laws and regulations; making recommendations and approvals of findings for environmental compliance; and determining applicable level of categorical exclusion. Providing guidance and training to HRSA staff and recipients on questions regarding the implementation of HRSA environmental policies and the Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending (CPF/CDS) program. Providing expert technical assistance to recipients throughout the construction process, monitors facility progress and provides expert consultation as required.
