LOCATION: STROGER HOSPITALDEPARTMENT: MATERAL CHILD HEALTH / L&DSHIFT: 7:00 AM - 3:00PMJOB SUMMARY SEIU LOCAL 73The Certified Surgical Technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Completion of an approved Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technician, or approved Military Program is required (Must provide official transcript at time of interview)* Current certification as a Surgical Technologist in the State of Illinois through one (1) of the following: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) OR National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) is required (Must provide proof at time of interview if already obtained)* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Heart Association is required (Must provide proof at time of interview if already obtained)* One (1) year of full-time work experience post certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist is required (Certification(s) and/or license(s) must be current and active throughout the course of employment without lapse in expiration time, as required to meet the qualifications of the job)VETERAN PREFERENCEPLEASE READWhen applying for employment with the Cook County Health & Hospitals System, preference is given to honorably discharged Veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for not less than 6 months of continuous serviceTo take advantage of this preference a Veteran must:* Meet the minimum qualifications for the position.* Identify self as a Veteran on the employment application by answering yes to the question by answering yes to the question, 'Are you a Military Veteran?'* Attach a copy of their DD 214, DD 215 or NGB 22 (Notice of Separation at time of application filing.
