Job Description
The Dispatcher is responsible for the assignment of motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight or passengers, and compiles lists of available vehicles.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as central receiving point for planned and "On Demand" route requirements, keeping the Transportation Coordinator (TC) and Detention/Transportation Lieutenants informed of mission requests received from the government.
- Assist Lieutenants by calling replacement staff to cover absences.
- Assists the Scheduling Officer as necessary with schedule adjustments.
- Assists with staff timekeeping.
- Monitors staff "available hours" to ensure staff with available hours are recalled to cover unplanned staff absences.
- Monitor trip durations to ensure anticipated times for trips are achieved. Notify supervisor if trips are delayed for any reason.
- Contact pick-up/delivery locations to ensure facility awareness of time of arrival of transport vehicle, and other pertinent information such as number of detainees, gender, etc. is provided.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational and/or Experience:
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must pass a background check and obtain a security clearance
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 - 2 years specialized experience as a dispatcher preferred.
- Computer skills including proficiency in various Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Organizational skills commensurate with position.
- Write clearly and concisely using acceptable grammar, punctuation and spelling; write organized, complete, accurate and factual reports.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate in English
- Express and exchange ideas via verbal communication and must convey details or important instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.
- Understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules and regulations.
- Must have basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft office suite.
- Write clearly and concisely using acceptable grammar, punctuation and spelling; write organized, complete, accurate and factual reports.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate in English
- Express and exchange ideas via verbal communication and must convey details or important instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.
- Understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules and regulations.
