**Registered Dietician** Job Number **MHMN20-277** Hours Per Two-Week Period **Per Diem** Shift Hours **8 Hour Shift** * Bachelor degree in Nutrition and Dietetics required, Masters preferred

* Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) accreditation

* License, as needed, per state requirement

* Current certification in BLS or CPR

* Computer Literacy

* Experience working with heart disease, diabetes, and plant-based nutrition preferred

* Health coaching and motivational interviewing experience preferred

* Experience in coaching individuals in making sustainable lifestyle changes

* Experience in plant-based meal planning, preparation, cooking and grocery shopping preferred.

* Knowledgeable about research and the role of dietary factors in heart disease, and exhibits an ability to explain these concepts clearly to participants.

* Research experience preferred

* Excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education

* Excellent interpersonal communication skills with sensitivity to participant needs

* Excellent leadership and organizational skills

* Excellent computer skills

* Desire and willingness to collaborate as a member of a high-functioning transdisciplinary team that supports personal transformation

* Servsafe certified, preferred

* Provides nutrition education, counseling, and coaching to participants in accordance to the Nutrition Prescription and guidelines

* Provides a baseline nutrition consultation that includes an overview of the Nutrition Prescription, and addresses pertinent nutrition related clinical or psychosocial needs

* Reviews and assesses data collected from nutrition assessment

* Assesses nutritional adequacy for each participant

* Assesses participant adherence to nutrition guidelines

* Provides documentation of education, consults, weekly adherence and goals

* Reports to team and documents any noncompliance to nutrition guidelines or other concerns

* Collaboratively sets and documents goals with participants to support the adherence to Program guidelines. Follows up with goals and provides additional coaching, as needed Provides nutrition consultation with participants on an as needed basis

* Identifies participants with food allergies and collaborates with foodservice to provide safe and appropriate meal planning for Program meals

* Provide education during meals and promotes optimal nutrition adherence by being available to the participants during all meal sessions to answer questions and provide support

* Attends and participates in weekly team meeting

* Participates in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan for each participant.

* Participates in the monitoring, documentation, and communication of the participant's response to the interdisciplinary treatment plan throughout the Program intervention

* Serves as the nutrition expert in educating the chef/food service staff

* Oversees the food service for the Program ensuring adherence to recipe, menu cycle and program guidelines for all meals served

* Ensures adherence to nutrition and recipe guidelines for all potlucks, cooking classes, and cooking demonstrations

* Evaluates food service and ensures all meals meet the Ornish standards for presentation, quality, and nutritional adequacy

* Develops relationships with and maintain list of local community resources.

* Plans and coordinates menu for special events, such as marketing opportunities, in accordance to nutrition guidelines

* Assists the Program Director with efforts to actively promote the Program to prospective participants and health care professionals as needed

* Participates in the monitoring, documentation, and communication of the participant's response to the interdisciplinary treatment plan throughout the Program

* Assists the Program Director with efforts to actively promote the Program to prospective participants and healthcare professional as needed.

* Attends and participates in mandatory monthly element specialist calls hosted by the Ornish National Training Center

* Assists the Program with efforts to actively promote the Program to prospective participants and health care professionals as needed

* Provides support to Ornish Alumni Community as needed

* Personally supports the programs principles, philosophy, and practices

* Complies with HIPAA privacy and patient confidentiality policies and procedures
