  • Develops and coordinates community relations activities for specified faith-based campaigns within the Muslim and Interfaith Communities. Bilingual (English/Hindi/Korean/Urdu/Spanish) a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, feature articles, and informational materials.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Bilingual (English/Hindi/Korean/Urdu/Spanish) a plus.
  • Sets goals and develops public affairs plans with key stakeholders, advocacy groups, affiliated professional organizations, influencers, to increase awareness and education about organ, tissue donation and transplantation.
  • Expected to maintain community affairs awareness within designated geographies, communities or demographics to identify potential opportunities and/or partnerships in to enhance organ and tissue donation awareness.
  • Programs are developed with particular attention to Muslim ethnic and cultural diversity.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identifies, cultivates, and maintains positive working relationships with key individuals within the Muslim communities to actively support LiveOnNY's efforts to educate and engage the public about donation.
  • Develops and implements plans for providing educational vehicles related to organ and tissue donation for diverse ethnic and racial communities via interfaith and community-based organizations, civic groups and professional associations as well as elected officials and related government agencies.
  • Assesses educational needs of these groups related to donation and transplantation and develops programs to meet those needs.
  • Organizes and develops presentations and informational packages.
  • Seeks out speaking engagements and participation in relevant forums, such as exhibits, health fairs, conferences and seminars, classes.
  • This role will also be expected to assist Family Support Advocates on an as needed basis. Assistance entails providing onsite response to advocate for donation and support families throughthe organ and tissue donation process.
  • Initiates timely donation conversation with families either in person or telephonically and in collaboration with hospital partners.
  • Evaluates strategies and programs delivered for effectiveness and maintains records related to specialty programs presented, including attendance, evaluation, etc.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, pastoral counseling and three to five years' experience in developing and implementing effective grassroots strategies and educational campaigns, or equivalent education/work experience. Masters preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in the of development and execution of community, communications, and/or marketing programs essential. Experience creating and executing annual strategies and a history of working with all levels of professionals including C-suite required.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office and Outlook required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule. May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Demonstrated affiliations with communty-based organizations within catchment area. Familiarity with neighborhood dynamics. Understanding of the economic, social and demographic forces within designated borough.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
