Job Summary

The Security & Safety Dispatcher monitors radio traffic, telephone calls and alarm systems on campus. Appropriate personnel are then dispatched to provide the services requested. This position assists with general office duties for the department, issues parking permits and performs other duties as needed.

Principal Duties and Expected Outcomes:

1. Monitor Systems (34%)

a. Radio Traffic

b. Fire System Notification /Alarms

c. Duress Alarms

2. Dispatch (33%)

a. Security and Safety Personnel

b. Emergency Services (EMS, Fire)

c. On-Call Staff regarding Campus maintenance issues

3. Office Duties (33%)

a. Answer Telephone

b. Issue parking permits

c. Shifts reports, Dispatch Log, Calls for Service

d. Other Duties as assigned

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

Some dispatch experience preferred

Skills: The Dispatcher is required to have the ability to multi task and make sound judgement in critical situations; excellent telephone, radio and personal communication skills, good typing and other office skills; and the ability to follow instructions with exactness in emergency situations.

Work Schedule:

Regular Schedule: Rotating shift work to provide 24/7 coverage

Weekend / Holiday / On Call: Shifts include working weekends and holidays

Schedule : M/W/F 6a-12p

Base Rate Per Hour:
14.00
