Title: TRAC Star

Rate: $15.00 per hour

Supervisor: Coordinator of Youth Services

Status: Temporary, Per-Diem, Non-Exempt, 5 hours per week

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 5:30-7:30pm, Two shift days per week to be determined. Youth will attend group supervision on Tuesdays from 4-5pm.

Position Summary:

An opportunity for teens to develop leadership skills working alongside TRAC staff to create a safe place of belonging for youth in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Position Requirements:
  • Must be at least 16 years old and a Junior or Senior in High School who is currently registered for the TRAC Program OR a recent high school graduate who was an active participant in the TRAC Program their Senior year.
  • Be able to work a regularly scheduled shift from 5:30-7:30pm, two days per week at TRAC (Tuesday-Friday). High School Juniors and Seniors can continue attending TRAC as a participant during times they are not scheduled to work.
  • Be able to attend weekly group meeting with Youth Services Coordinator.
  • Have NYS Working papers or be willing to obtain NYS Working papers.
  • Uphold the TRAC Program rules; TRAC Stars who violate TRAC program rules will not be eligible to continue in the role.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to take direction from Coordinator or other TRAC staff based on the situation.
  • A 6-month commitment is required from March 2024 through the end of summer program in August 2024.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly TRAC Stars group supervision with the Youth Services Coordinator on Tuesdays from 4-5pm.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to younger TRAC participants.
  • Personally uphold the TRAC rules and assist other TRAC participants in upholding the rules of the program.
  • Assist TRAC staff in preparing and serving nightly dinner as needed.
  • Assist TRAC staff in leading GIVE or other life skills workshops as needed.
  • Assist TRAC staff in planning program events such as holiday parties or parent events.
  • Work with program staff to ensure TRAC participants are actively engaged in program activities.
  • Assist TRAC staff with Middle School student dismissal at 7pm.
  • Assist TRAC staff and FPC security in ensuring youth are not hanging out in the hallways or disrupting activities of other agencies within the FPC.
  • Timely completion of timesheets in ADP.


Benefits:

As temporary employees, TRAC Stars are not eligible for agency benefits. They will accrue sick time at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

This position is located at the Family Partnership Center, 29 North Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY.
