The Medallion Club is a private, 27-hole Jack Nicklaus II design that opened in 1994. We have three distinctive nines and are located about a twenty-minute drive from The Ohio State University campus. Medallion is part of Century Golf Partners; a golf investment and management company established in 2005. In the same year, the company also acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to the Arnold Palmer Golf Management brand and accordingly, Century Golf Partners operates many of its clubs under the Arnold Palmer Golf Management name.

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join our team for a seasonal internship opportunity. This candidate is expected to have a desire to learn and advance in the turfgrass industry. The position will provide valuable hands-on experience in golf course maintenance, allowing you to gain a deep understanding of the industry and contribute to the overall maintenance of our golf course. You will work closely with the superintendent and assistants and have the opportunity to be involved with every aspect required to maintain the golf course. Candidates will assist with day-to-day maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course, adjacent grounds and clubhouse landscaping. Our focus for you is to help develop your agronomic and business skillset to prepare for positions in our growing portfolio across the country. This position will be part of the Century portfolio of private, public and resort courses throughout the U.S. We offer cross-facility training, scholarships and opportunities to participate in a PGA Tour event when Century Golf hosts The American Express at PGA WEST.

Duration of Internship: Flexible - Will accommodate to the needs of the individual

Salary: Commensurate with experience $16-$17/Hr. 40-45 Hr. work weeks

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in turf management, agronomy or horticulture.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for golf course maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn and
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Position Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily mowing of all playing surfaces with walk-behind units and riding units.
  • Proper water management (hand watering, moisture meter readings, irrigation heads, watering cycle setup, etc.)
  • Fertilizer and chemical applications (proper calibration and techniques)
  • Proper course set up (daily hole locations, tee locations and detail work)
  • Cultural practices (topdressing, aerification, verticutting, brushing, etc.)
  • Irrigation maintenance - Toro Lynx system (irrigation head repair, pipe repairs, small rotor/mist head repair)
  • Learning how to manage according to the weather
  • Communicate well with the crew, management and members
  • Carry oneself with professionalism in both appearance and demeanor
  • Understand the importance of networking, career preparation, and record keeping
  • Projects- ability to run/work with small crews (drainage, sod work, edging, etc.)
  • Be in involved in bunker renovations
