Essential Functions of the Phlebotomist:

Phlebotomy and courier of specimens for LTC facilities under contract within your territory to include:
Venipuncture/blood draws on patients
Courier of specimens to local hospital for processing
Following procedures and guidelines for specimen integrity
Respond quickly to all calls
Prioritize orders as they come in due to time sensitive collections
Communicate effectively with all company staff and staff from the facilities we serve
Provide clear concise explanations to the patient, family members, and necessary staff while gaining the cooperation and trust of the patient in stressful and anxious times
Have and maintain a clean driving record
Be able to work independently and be self-motivated
Be able to drive for some long distances as well as in the city
Maintains personal supply inventory, anticipating supply need
Practices proper techniques and ethical standard
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Position Qualifications

The Phlebotomist must have a professional and respectful demeanor when working with customers and coworkers. The employee is expected to interact with a wide variety of professionals including but not limited to facility staff, patients, and Physicians and therefore they must be able to exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. The Phlebotomist is expected to be dependable, organized, and maintain strict confidentiality of patient and facility information.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: minimum six months to one year of related experience

Computer skills: Experience in using computers and data entry

Certificates & Licenses: Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician Preferred but not required

Other Requirements: Attention to detail and problem solving skills. Maintain strict confidentiality, high levels of accuracy, and high levels of productivity. Must have teamwork mentality with the ability to work independently, and prioritize and manage individual projects.

Will follow HIPAA guidelines when handling Patient Health Information (PHI)

Physical Requirements:

Employees with a disability as defined by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) must be able to perform the requirements listed in this position description with or without accommodations.

Phlebotomists must be able to drive for extended periods of time and also frequently stand, squat, and bend. The Phlebotomist is expected to frequently walk long distances while moving portable equipment, and occasionally lift 10-50 lbs.

Other Physical Requirements: Must wear Accurate approved scrubs, foot ware must have closed toe and low heel, identification badge must always be visible, practice good hygiene, must be able to be outdoor in inclement weather, and have the ability to travel by car.

Work Environment:

Work is performed portably and in a medical facility. A majority of the position is done traveling to different exam locations, therefore all types of weather conditions and temperatures are a factor in the position.

Must possess valid driver's license and maintainability to drive a company vehicle, if required by positional duties. Employee may not drive a Company vehicle if their driving record reflects any of the following conditions:
