Job Details The Ultrasound Technologist operates Ultrasound equipment as directed by physicians and performs exams according to established standards and procedures. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Schedule may include weekend, night, holiday and call rotation. Reports to the lead Ultrasound technologist. This individual has direct patient contact with the following age groups: Infant; Pediatric; Adolescent; Adult; Geriatric. RESPONSIBILITIES: Works the assigned schedule including overtime and call as required. Assists with training Ultrasound students. Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and ingenuity. Utilizes proper body mechanics. Moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety. Performs routine diagnostic ultrasound exams and procedures: This includes, but not limited to: abdomen, pelvis, major vessels, and small parts (including breast, thyroid, testicular). Doppler Studies of Carotid, Abdomen, Pelvis, Small Parts, and Peripheral vascular exams. Assist in breast biopsy procedures. May include OR procedures. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness. Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System. Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone. Responds to overhead and direct pages. Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict. Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit. Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements. Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job. Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards. Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and graduate of an accredited ultrasound school. Licensure/Certification: Registered with ARDMS or eligible within 6 months of employment is required. Experience: Previous experience preferred; will accept new graduates. Salary Range USD $42.56 - USD $56.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
