Job Summary

Parking and Transportation Services has immediate openings for Shuttle Bus Drivers. Various schedules are currently available. Some schedules may include weekend hours. These drivers are responsible for ensuring the safe transport of community members who utilize the University shuttle and charter services.

These positions have been identified as essential personnel.

Responsibilities and Duties

•Drives shuttle vehicle on fixed or demand service routes.

•Performs daily vehicle inspections in accordance with CDL requirements.

•Drives charter routes as required.

•Serves as an informational source to passengers.

•Documents any maintenance issues.

•Assists with event parking as required.

•Performs other duties as may be required.

•Break work assignments will likely require the incumbent to perform light duty building maintenance tasks and work outside.

Qualifications and Skills

•Have one year of experience driving any type of vehicle. Preference will be given to those with at least one year of experience in the operation of medium or heavy-duty commercial passenger vehicles.

•Have a valid Commercial Class B License (CDL) with passenger endorsement, no more than 5 points and possession of CDL with no airbrake restriction or ability to remove air brake restriction within 60 days of hire. The university will provide training & cover the initial cost of testing to remove the air brake restriction.

•Be able to pass a Maryland Department of Transportation pre-employment physical and employees will be subjected to drug and alcohol education and testing as required under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the Department of Transportation (DOT), and State of Maryland regulations.

Salary and Benefits

$19.25/hr. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
