TOLM Group Inc. is seeking a Piping Specialist to join our team of construction professionals. We need someone with strong math skills and excellent communications skills to takeoff and estimate piping systems, prepare pipe orders, track and manage submittals, oversee deliveries and installation of pipe. The Piping Specialist must understand and perform both estimation and project management activities as it relates to the piping systems of multiple projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Collecting and organizing vendor proposals/quotes.
Read and interpret drawings and project specifications.
Quantify materials from drawings.
Develops knowledge of takeoff for ease of audit.
Develops knowledge of construction pricing.
Makes recommendations for software upgrades.
Makes recommendations for database pricing changes.
Manage piping related financials in collaboration with project management teams.
Negotiate and review purchase orders and subcontracts directly with subs and vendors.
Track piping labor and material cost bi-weekly.
As a member of the estimating team, assist the SR. Estimator in estimating and bidding for future assigned projects.
Develop a thorough understanding of details pertaining to the project.
Manage commitments to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring internal compliance with procurement policies and vendor compliance with contract terms.
Collaborate with project team and safety staff to ensure safe execution of projects.
Attend weekly project meetings with Sr. PM, when required.
Update schedules with the project management team, when required.
Review progress with superintendent and sub managers.
Review lead times on materials and equipment weekly.
Work with project management team on manpower requirements.
Preferred Skills/Abilities/Education:

Associate or Bachelors degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field is preferred.
Experience in estimating, project management or installation of piping systems.
Understanding of accounting, data and risk analysis, research methodology, and estimation metrics is vital.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and construction estimating software.
Requires critical thinking, analytical skills, and very strong math skills.
Stellar communication and time-management skills are crucial.
