[Principal Clinical Data Scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Ridgefield, CT [(Telecommuting permitted: Work may be performed within normal commuting distance from this office 80% of the time) [ *[Job Duties[: [Lead and oversee designing, transforming, analyzing and reporting of complex phase I-IV clinical trials or projects. Lead and oversee designing, transforming, analyzing and reporting of other data from research and development like registries and real-world data bases with respect to a specific use case or project/asset. Keep abreast of data science within and outside BI. Turn derived insights into new data science approaches relevant for clinical development, registration, and marketing of drugs. Present compelling validated stories regarding complex data science aspects to Biostatistics and Data Sciences (BDS) colleagues and other professionals. Ensure data transformation and analysis specifications to ensure completeness, correctness and adherence to department guidelines and SOPs as well as to applicable GxP requirements. Guide colleagues, internal and external customers and external providers on data science related tasks. Participate in cross-functional BI internal working-groups or lead cross-functional human pharma internal working-groups and drive/plan relevant data science aspects. Participate in external working groups. Ensure cross-functional and team-based working within BDS and with other units at BI. Support fostering of innovative digital approaches to produce sophisticated, intelligent optimization solutions, innovative processes and predictive models. Implement: (i) international regulations and guidelines for good clinical and statistical practice from all International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) regions, (ii) the various international guidelines on clinical development, including statistical methodology, for Therapeutic Area (TA)-related disease areas, and (iii) BI processes and SOPs that govern clinical development in particular with respect to strategic areas (e.g., Clinical Development Plan). Solve complex, defined problems with strategical impact within clinical research and development, taking into account needs and requirements of other units and departments. Represent BI for critical regulatory issues and requests around planning, analyses and data transformation regarding the project/asset. [ Telecommuting permitted: Work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. office in Ridgefield, CT 80% of the time. **[Position Requirements[: [PhD degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role OR Masters degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Must have three (3) years of experience with: utilizing knowledge of statistical methodology; advanced statistical concepts related to data science; SAS, R, or C++; leading and facilitating meetings; and, developing and delivering training related to data science topics. Must have two (2) years of experience with utilizing basic medical terminology. Must have one (1) year of experience with processing clinical trial information. Must have experience with: designing clinical trials or clinical experiments; analyzing neuroimaging data (e.g., MRI); and, performing advanced statistical computing including simulation, parallel computing, and statistical software development.
