JOB SUMMARY:

The Freight Brokerage Sales Executive is primarily responsible for bringing in an established portfolio of customers with a minimum of $1M in gross revenue and building upon that portfolio via prospecting, networking, and referrals. The Freight Brokerage Sales Executive is a proven non-asset sales professional who will bring a successful track record of cultivating and closing new business opportunities while providing existing clients with the highest level of service and support to retain their business, grow their accounts and gain referrals.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operation: Identify, qualify, and generate new business by adding and retaining clients to achieve set revenue goals. Manage shipper and carrier relationships; negotiate rates within CWI guidelines. Build long-term, mutual benefiting relationships with shippers. Maintain regular contact with customers to determine their short and long-term shipping needs. Provide VP with quarterly/annual revenue and expense projections.

Systems: Become a proficient user of the CWI Transportation Management System (TMS) and associated components. Become a proficient user of DAT Load Board and DAT Rateview

Accounting, Safety and Compliance: Ensure only the use of carriers which meet CWI carrier vetting and safety requirements. Ensure customers meet CWI credit guidelines.

Customer Service: Continually maintains a professional and courteous relationship with all customers. Audit's carrier performance to ensure service standards are being met.

Reporting: Ensures the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding logistics operations.

Budgeting: Participates in the preparation of budgets, revenue projections and account analysis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable field preferred
  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in transportation brokerage industry
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to attain targeted revenue goals
  • Ability to build relationships with carriers that result in high customer satisfaction
  • Ability to meet and exceed weekly/monthly gross margin goals
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet, web-based and job specific software applications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain organization and conduct follow up
  • Work as part of a team
