Job Description:

As a PLC Machine Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing PLC programs to control and optimize the performance of industrial machinery. Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of automated systems and enhancing productivity in various manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to understand system requirements, functional specifications, and performance objectives for PLC-based automation projects.
  2. Develop PLC programs using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) to control machine operation, sequence logic, motion control, and data acquisition.
  3. Configure and integrate PLC hardware components, including controllers, input/output modules, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces, to meet project specifications.
  4. Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of PLC programs to identify and resolve software issues, ensure system functionality, and optimize performance.
  5. Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate PLC systems with electrical panels, motor drives, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) devices, and other control components.
  6. Implement safety protocols and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508) in PLC programming to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  7. Provide technical support and guidance to field service technicians, maintenance personnel, and production operators for PLC-related issues, maintenance tasks, and operational procedures.
  8. Document design specifications, programming code, wiring diagrams, and operating procedures for PLC systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
  9. Stay informed about advancements in PLC technology, automation software, and industrial control systems to propose innovative solutions and improve programming practices.
  10. Adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards, while communicating progress, challenges, and recommendations to project stakeholders effectively.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent related field experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation, preferably in manufacturing or process industries.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs from leading manufacturers such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), Schneider Electric, or Mitsubishi Electric.
  • Strong understanding of PLC hardware, digital and analog I/O, communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus), and industrial networking.
  • Experience with PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure) and simulation tools for virtual commissioning.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems, robotics, motion control, and vision systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in software development and system integration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite support, commissioning, and customer training.
