ASC Assistant Director
Job Summary:
This opening is for a full-time Medical Records Administrator with our ASC office in Tampa. We are seeking a individual that's familiar with medical terminology, efficient at multitasking, familiar with excel and Microsoft office products, comfortable with cross training front office positions, independent worker with a team oriented mindset, able to flex hours with varying surgery schedules. Ability to work in fast pace environment. Must be willing to train onsite for 30 days. Ability to work in multiple systems at once.
The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM.
**Position pays $13-16/hr**
Must be flexible with hours, ability to multi task, strong attention to detail, computer knowledge, team player Medical records experience helpful but not required.
**Please Note: Per CMS guidelines for this department full COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for this role for new hires joining Florida Medical Clinic. Should you be hired for this position you will be required to provide a copy of your vaccine card. Essential Functions of the Position:
Monitors completion of Endoscopy and Surgical operative reports
Ensures all reports are created by physician, are complete and electronically approved and signed by physician prior to adding to ASC medical record.
Forwards & obtains approval signatures from non-FMC physicians.
Ensures completed reports are distributed to referring physicians either via mail to non-FMC physicians or via Intergy Task.
Notifies Assistant Director of delinquent records.
Monitors pathology reports
Ensures all pathology reports are received and logged in specimen log book.
Obtains physician signatures on required pathology reports.
Contacts lab if reports not received timely.
Forwards copies of physician operative reports to outside anesthesia vendor for billing purposes, as needed or requested.
Monitors completeness of entire medical record
Ensures all entries are finalized, as indicated by chart audit completion.
Files all additional paperwork (pathology reports, discharge summaries, clo test results, dictations, etc) into charts and checks for completion and accuracy of medical record prior to scanning.
Obtains all missing documentation as needed to ensure completeness.
Verifies paperwork is in proper sequential order prior to scanning.
Properly catalogues and scans charts.
Processes medical record requests
Obtains & reviews records release to ensure appropriate authorization has been obtained.
Sends Intergy Task to 3rd party vendor for processing of records release.
Compiles required # of charts per provider for purpose of peer review and gives to appropriate Charge Nurse.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, to include other Front Office position duties as needed.
Maintains all required regulatory training and participates in mandatory drills
Annual Risk Management Education
Annual OSHA training
Quarterly fire drills
Competencies
Physical and Mental Demands:
Normal physical ability; able to sit for long periods
Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
High level verbal and written communication skills
Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Job Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Strong customer service orientation
Basic computer proficiency
Excellent telephone etiquette and organization skills
Knowledge of medical terminology
Strong understanding of HIPAA and privacy laws
Excellent organizational and computer skills
Good understanding of medical file documentation
Proficient in information management programs and MS Office
minimum 1 year experience
