JOB DESCRIPTION:
K9s on the Move is seeking a hard-working, dependable, and detail-orientated Kennel Technician. The ideal candidate for this position is a mature and enthusiastic individual who has a strong command of dog behavior. Kennel Technician must be comfortable with animals and must be open to accomplish other duties as related to animals. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow instructions/ protocols.
  • Willingness to learn more about handling dogs and be open to constructive feedback.
  • Must be available to work on or around major and minor holiday seasons.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Must have reliable transportation and good attendance.
  • Must be at least 17-years of age.
JOB DUTIES:
-Learn to identify and properly use tools, e.g. muzzles, restraints, and slip leads, through observation and hands-on training.
-Learn proper dog handling techniques and apply them when moving dogs by following supervisor instruction and guidance.
-Learn to read and understand dog's body language by completing "Fetch Find" curriculum.
-Prevent communicable diseases by following cleaning protocols and avoiding cross contamination when cleaning and maintaining kennels, animal holding areas, and lobby.
-Maintain facility safety and cleanliness, inside and outside, by following deep cleaning schedule, and using the correct cleaning products.
-Prepare meals by following owner instructions and log meal intake for diabetic dogs.
-Read and follow medication guide for when to administer medication and track activity by updating medication log.
-Utilize "Sync Pet" software to observe and follow boarding placements and location for efficient operations.
-Utilize company cellphones to take pictures of pets and share with owner for animal wellness check-in.
-Exercise animals to maintain their physical and mental health by following supervisor instruction and guidance.
-Perform grooming duties, e.g. trimming nails, bathing, washing/ blow-drying/ trimming/ and brushing hair though observation and hands-on training.
-Identify and monitor symptoms of canine cough and stool irregularities and report issues to supervisor.
-Assist with communicating dog's vaccine needs to owners and updating vaccine cards by following supervisor guidance.
-Perform routine reception duties, e.g. organizing files, greeting customers, answering phones, scheduling appointments, making confirmation and wellness check calls by following supervisor instruction and utilizing office equipment.
-Process cash, check, and card transaction using "Spot On" software.
WAGE: $16.00/ hour
SCHEDULE: Monday- Sunday between 7:00am- 6:00pm.
