Job DetailsJob LocationPharmacare Houston - Stafford, TXDescriptionTwo Shifts Available: Mid-shift (11-8) and Closing shift (1230-930)Job Summary:The overall purpose of the Pharmacy Technician position is to assist with the preparation of medications for dispensing under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. QualificationsQualifications:High School diploma or equivalency certificateCurrent state registration as a pharmacy technician in good standingPharmacy technician certification preferredIV Certification preferredSkills and Knowledge Requirements:Knowledge of basic drug terminology/abbreviations/symbols, pharmaceutical calculations Understanding of systems of measurement, drug use, interpreting directions for use, and aseptic techniquesAttention to detail with accurate and timely completion of tasks Intermediate level of computer knowledge skills/proficiency and able to adapt to new/evolving technologiesStrong time management and organizational skillsSelf-motivated and able to work independently and productivelyInterpersonal skills required to deal effectively and courteously with all co-workers, medical/nursing/professional personnel, and patients/caregiversWillingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environmentAbility to read, write, and speak the English language fluentlyEssential Functions:Enters prescription/physician order data into the pharmacy's data processing system(s)Pulls stock bottle from the shelf for preparing and packaging prescription drug ordersAffix prescription labels and auxiliary labels to the prescription containerReconstitute medications as requiredPackage and label prepackaged drugsAssemble and audit emergency kitsCompound and bulk compound of non-sterile and/or sterile prescription drug orders Procure and stock pharmaceuticals and ancillary supplies as assigned Assist in inventory management and inventory countsBe available for the maintenance of pharmacy equipment, environmental controls, pharmacy cleanliness and organization including filing as neededSound working knowledge of all computer hardware and software in use, particularly the pharmacy operating system (POS), digital imaging software, automated dispensing systems, and Microsoft applications.Participates in the coordination, scheduling, and preparation of medication deliveriesMay assist with the training of newly hired technicians and/or student externs as assigned by the pharmacistAssist as needed in auditing of patient recordsParticipates in the development and achievement of continuous quality improvementPromotes teamwork through cooperation and communication to attain company and departmental goalsResponsible for assuring patient/resident safety.Performs other duties as assignedWe are an Equal opportunity employer; We offer an excellent benefit plan to include 401K with match, CEU reimbursement, vacation, sick, holidays, medical, dental, and supplemental insurance Plans as well as a Highly competitive compensation package.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are at the heart of Cantex.
