School Nurse

SCHOOL NURSE Position Title: School Nurse Department: Building Reports To: District Coordinator / Building Principal ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Administer medication and treatment prescribed by physicians Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records and other health related data on all students requiring nursing intervention Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures Implement board policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases Conduct training for students related to handicap, health and hygiene Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools Assist staff members with necessary and required health/safety trainings Oversee vision/hearing screenings, BMI and nutrition for students Attend meetings and/or training as requested, required and/or needed Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met Display professionalism in appearance, attitude, and actions Follow code of ethics for educators SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: District RNs will supervise LPNs QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: License from the State to practice as an RN or LPN.
