Your skill set.

  • Demonstrated creativity, passion and interest in design and planning of healthcare facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of progressive technical and regulatory requirements for healthcare facilities design and understanding of fundamental departmental organization and functionality
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare delivery systems and how design impacts those systems
  • Actively seeks new knowledge in the design and planning of medical and healthcare facilities.
  • Medical space planning, architectural design and construction documents acumen
  • Working understanding of design constructability as well as a solid understanding of healthcare architecture
  • Advanced understanding of the Federal Guidelines Institute (FGI) for Healthcare Architecture and all applicable healthcare building codes
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Understands the fundamental relationships and contractual obligations between the Architect, Consultants, Owner and Contractor
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentation materials
  • Ability to communicate within a creative team environment
  • Complex problem-solving and critical thinking abilities are essential
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to convey medical planning needs to designers and other team members
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
  • Knowledge about sustainability and LEED preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture required and healthcare design certification preferred. Master Degree preferred
  • Architecture license required
  • 7 years' experience focused on a variety of healthcare projects- full new facilities, additions, renovations, departments with some large-scale, complex healthcare projects required
A day in the life of a medical planner.
  • Medical space planning, including research on best practices and future practices of healthcare services
  • Develops project scope, plan, and services during the contract process. Translates planning concepts into comprehensible terms for clients, designers and project team members
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of client's program requirements and standards and policies for completion
  • Anticipates and develops solutions to technical and design challenges following established standards
  • Serve as the primary consultant liaison and a secondary client liaison to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction
  • Provide overall project design and development process to ensure that construction documents conform with A&E Design's agreement with the client
  • Provide technical expertise to generate documents for healthcare and/or life science projects ranging in size and scope
  • Ensure client is adequately briefed on project process
  • Ensures project inter-disciplinary and quality control coordination
  • Oversees the development of architectural drawings to communicate planning concepts for project documentation and construction.
  • Work with partners and project managers on all project efforts, both administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects
  • Provide clear team leadership and mentorship. Oversee and provide regular, timely direction to project team members, with additional attention given to those with the least experience and/or expertise
  • May estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts for partner or associate partner review
  • Understands the fundamental relationships and contractual obligations between the Architect, Consultants, Owner and Contractor and fosters a culture of external and internal client service
