RN First Assistant with $15K Sign-On Bonus

JOB SUMMARY
The RN First Assistant will assist physicians by providing care during surgical procedures including clamping and suturing. This position requires demonstrated proficiency in perioperative nursing practice as both a scrub and circulating nurse. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in perioperative nursing and be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Successful completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider is also required. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Documenting medical and nursing patient care information in the electronic or paper medical record
- Obtaining patient history and performing appropriate interventions
- Identifying standards of care for the specific patient population
- Administering medication safely and accurately
- Evaluating outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met
- Maintaining communication with patients and their family or significant others throughout continuum of care
- Anticipating the needs of the surgeon and team members
- Serving as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers, and students, evaluating their performance
- Taking on-call as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in perioperative nursing
- Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Florida
- Completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
