MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care emergency room setting and is clinically competent.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills of speciality area.
  • Current, valid New Mexico Licensure or Compact Registered Nursing License required.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS TNCC, ENPC, NRP, STABLE, and stroke certification required.
  • Completion of ED Team Lead RN training module.
  • Annual hospital-wide competencies and education must be completed timely.
  • Superior interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs, and requirements of the healthcare delivery system of Holy Cross Medical Center.
  • Knowledge of nursing scope of practice in New Mexico. Understanding of applical laws of acute care operations such as EMTALA. Knowledge of ENA standards.
  • A record of satisfactory performance in current RN role as evidenced by two positive references from current peers.
Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced certification such as CEN, CPEN, CTRN, CFRN or CCRN.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish languages.


POSITION PURPOSE
The Emergency Department Team Lead RN coordinates and manages patient care roles within the Emergency Department to optimize flow within the department while on duty. The ED Team Lead RN delegates tasks and divides workflow to optimize patient care and overall readiness within the Emergency Department. The ED Team Lead RN communicates with the on-duty House Shift Coordinator regarding situations and needs within the department as appropriate. The ED Team Lead RN serves as a resource for their colleagues with regard to hospital policies, protocols and established practices. The ED Team Lead RN maintains continuity within the department through all-staff shift briefings and directly reports to the ED Manager regarding department concerns and issues as they arise. The ED Team Lead RN assists in the implementation of new and exisiting practices, providing direction within the Emergency Department during off-hours and weekends. The ED Team Lead RN is a clinical leader and provides direct patient care.
